The gift store also features unusual novelty items.
The classic turn-key business, located in Tallahassee, Fla., is in a desirable location near three universities and a young, trendy population. John Kraft, a business broker in Murphy’s Florida North region, was the transactional broker for both the seller and buyer. Kraft, a former U.S. Naval Officer and Vietnam Veteran, is based in Murphy’s Tallahassee office and serves clients in the Big Bend Area, including Leon, Gadsden, Wakulla and Jefferson Counties.
The seller located and contacted Kraft after searching online for the right business broker to handle the sale.
Kraft had been working with the prospective buyer for several years. The two had discussed the buyer’s needs, interests and short- and long-term goals, and Kraft had been waiting to find the right opportunity for this specific buyer. Kraft felt this particular retail shop was an ideal match, and the buyer quickly emerged as the leading candidate for the purchase.
Kraft notes the Leon County seller was very pleased with the speed and final selling price of this transaction, which closed in April 2010. The tobacco shop was on the market a little more than four months – 128 days, to be exact – which is far less than typical.
