When seeking the best M&A or Brokerage representation, “Past Success is the Best Predictor of Future Performance”.
During 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012, one of the most difficult business climates in decades, Matt Slappey demonstrated what hard work, perseverance, and great client relationships can accomplish. Matt was recognized for the following:
Awarded “Top Five” Business Broker in Georgia Association of Business Brokers for 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.
#1 Murphy - GA Business Broker in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 for Total Transactions Completed
President – Georgia Association of Business Brokers 2013
Matt has a wide array of experience on transactions typically in the $1MM-$50MM range. Regardless of the size of the transaction, the same issues are important to business sellers. A sample of these include the value of their company, confidentiality during a transaction, understanding the tax issues of selling a company (because Matt believes the amount of money you keep is more important than the sale price of the company), ensuring appropriate legal representation so that there are no surprises after the sale, and many other important issues.
Matt represents sellers of privately held companies and he also represents individuals in their endeavor to purchase a small to medium sized company. On the more advanced end of the spectrum, he has several years of experience representing private equity buyers pursuing acquisitions for growth. He has repeatedly demonstrated a working ability to get deals financed, understand business values, and assist business owners with maximizing the value of their business.
Media outlets have sought out Matt’s expertise. He has been quoted in multiple news outlets regarding business transactions and small business market information. These include GO Magazine (AirTran Inflight Magazine), Dun & Bradstreet Small Business, and others.
As an Atlanta native for over 40 years, Matt delivers a superior level of local marketplace knowledge. Matt’s attributes of maturity, respect, and honor were developed and honed during seven years as an officer in the U.S. Army. His strong technical skills allowed him to obtain the rare combination of duties as both a military intelligence officer and a pilot with the dual qualifications for both rotary and fixed wing aircraft.
Matt gained executive management experience during 12 years in a corporate environment with sales management and leadership roles for a Fortune 50 company. He was responsible for annual sales of almost $50,000,000. Because of his high energy, excellent communication skills, and a passion to succeed, he earned multiple national awards including attaining the #1 ranking in the entire U.S.
On a personal note, Matt lives in Decatur with his wife Sheri (also an Atlanta native) and their three daughters. In his spare time he enjoys golf, fishing, aviation, and playing the guitar.
