Curt Maier has a broad business background of over 25 years of experience in negotiating and closing deals working with small, medium and large businesses, both domestically and on an international basis. Through this experience of many successful transactions, Curt is uniquely qualified to advise and assist clients who want to purchase or sell a business or franchise. He clearly understands the challenges of the team building necessary to complete the process of buying or selling a business and is a strategic thinker with strong analytical and decision-making abilities. Following a highly distinguished and decorated military career as a United States Naval Nuclear Officer serving aboard a Fleet Ballistic Missile Submarine in the Pacific Fleet, Curt joined FORTUNE 300 Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. where he gained significant business experience spanning across a wide variety of industries and situations. He held positions of increasing accountability in sales, marketing and general management which included field assignments across the country and abroad, including an expatriate leadership position in Malaysia in the early 1990’s. Assignments at the corporate headquarters for Air Products included managing the corporation’s North American Healthcare and Global Helium businesses. His twenty year corporate career was capped in 2002 by his acquisition of American Homecare Supply, a $165 million transaction.
Curt became an entrepreneur in 2003 and has developed and sold a variety of small businesses including hyperbaric oxygen therapy services (Clinical Services, Inc.) and nitrogen for the tire inflation market (National Nitrogen Generators, LLC). In 2004 he became a franchisee and area developer for the nation’s premier adult day care provider, Sarah Adult Day Services, Inc. He served on Sarah’s Franchise Advisory Board as well. Through his many P&L management and entrepreneurial experiences, he has a thorough understanding of what it takes to be successful in buying and selling businesses. Since joining the Murphy organization in 2010, his primary goal for each transaction is for both the buyer and seller to walk away from the closing table with the complete satisfaction of having achieved their respective goals and objectives.
Curt earned an engineering degree from the University of Notre Dame and holds an MBA from the University of Phoenix. Additionally, he completed the Executive Financial Analysis Course at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He is a licensed real estate broker in the state of Washington. He is certified as a CMEA (Certified Machinery and Equipment Appraiser), SBA (Senior Business Analyst), BTS (Business Transfer Specialist) and CSA (Certified Senior Advisor). He is a member of the prestigious Cambridge Who’s Who, has served on boards of non-profit organizations and has been an advocate for industry and community causes. Curt’s concern and commitment to Washington’s business community is demonstrated by his active involvement in local business organizations including Pacific Northwest Business Brokers & Intermediaries, BizEnrich, Biznik, Eastside Business Association and several Chamber of Commerce organizations. Curt resides in Bellevue, WA with his wife and their two teenage daughters.
